I will have to get rid of this Jeep before the warranty expires. The $1,300 bill I just paid did not include 2 new shocks in the rear (fortunately, covered by warranty) which the service guy said he had done on 2 other vehicles that week. on before I bought this Jeep, did the same type of driving, and in 21 years of ownership spent less than $3,000 in maintenace in 21 years (except for new tires, batteries, light bulbs and windshile wipers). I owned a 1991 Nissan Frontier which I bought new and put over 250,000 kms. I just got a maintenance bill yesterday for $1,300 and all they did was change fluids (brake, transfer case, front & rear differential, standard oil change) not even an engine tune up and no transimisisons work - just regulr fluid change maintenance. In the 1.5 years i have owned this vehicle (I bought it new) I have spent over $3,000 in REGULAR maintenace - no new parts (no tires, no battery, no light bulbs, no windshield wipers, etc.) - just changing fluids. Great to drive - easy on gas, comfortable, excellent off road capabiltiies, but EXTREMELY expensive to maintian. Our Jeep only has 69,000 miles on it and of course we were told the repair work is not under warranty. For the money we spent, we feel ripped off. Our landscaper told us that he turned in his Jeep Grand Cherokee, too, for major repairs under the hood and he was not going to take any more chances on a vehicle designed so poorly and switched from Jeep for his next vehicle. We really feel that since this vehicle is less than 5 years old, we should have had to make major repairs like this to our car and it was a huge expense to us when we didn't need/want any major expenses. The repairs for this incident totaled over $2,500.

We also needed front-end brakes and had the back brakes done a few months ago. It turned out to be the altinator which blew out the battery. We had to have the Jeep Grand Cherokee towed in.

Luckily, we were not on the back roads but were able to pull over to a safe spot, but we had just come from the back roads and were heading home. Then the car started to fail and cruised to a complete stop. We were on the road and all of a sudden (without warrning), the radio went out. We paid $45,000 for this vehicle in 2012, and already it needed major repair work totaling over $2,50O.
